Oil and filter change, Scheduled maintenance

At German Automotive we believe in shorter oil change intervals for long term protection.

Although you can choose to follow manufacturer's own service intervals as they are displayed in the instrument cluster           reminder, we suggest oil changes at every 10,000 km interval especially once your vehicle mileage exceeds 80,000km.

For this reason you will find an oil sticker attached to your driver's door jamb set at 10,000 km.

We provide two types of oil changes:

Basic oil change:

  • includes oil and filter, reset service reminder, reset tire pressures, reset TPMS, oil sticker on the door and visual inspection on brakes and tires.

Full oil service:

  • includes the basic, plus road test, check for additional services as recommended by manufacturer (filters, transmissions/t-case/differential services, spark plugs, fuel filters etc), and a full vehicle inspection as outlined below.
  • Complete suspension and steering inspection (ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, mounts, control arms), check brakes and record measurements (pads, rotors, calipers, lines), check tires and record measurements (tire wear, abnormal wear), check lights, make note of existing warnings in the instrument cluster, check for fluid leaks (visual check of oil, coolant, washer fluids), check condition of the drive belt (for cracks, frays, noise, contamination, misalignment), lubricate all doors/hood/trunk latches and hinges, top up all fluids (washer fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, suspension fluid).

NOTE:
  •  In order to minimize cost we suggest alternating between basic oil changes and full oil services but still  having your car looked over every 20,000/two years in order to avoid surprises.

All the filters that we install (air, cabin, transmission, fuel, etc) are of highest OEM quality from Mann, Hengst, Mahle and Purflux.

We do not use any other brand of filters period. The oil and filter quality will make the difference between your engine lasting 100,000 kms or 500,000 kms.

For oil we use Liqui Moly and occasionally Motul. The oil is imported from Germany and France and is one of the best oil available in the world.

It is imperative to not overfill your engine with oil as this can have bad consequences and cause damage. It's better to have slightly lower oil level than overfilled.

A lot of the newer engine don't have a dipstick and checking the level is only possible after meeting several conditions. We ensure that only the correct amount of oil gets put in your engine and verify the car's electronic oil level after the oil change.

Every oil grade is matched with the specific vehicle brand recommendation and is certified/approved by the brand (for ex. BMW LL01, LL04, LL12FE, LL17FE+, Mercedes-Benz MB229.5, 229.51, 229.71, VW-Audi VW505, 507, 508, 509, Porsche A40/C30, Land Rover-Jaguar STJLR03.5003/5006/5007, etc).
